What is the technology used behind Paint Protection Film?

Paint Protection Film technology was initially developed during the Vietnam war. It is a transparent urethane material that helped helicopters and other Army vehicles which needed constant replacement from the damage caused by flying dirt and rocks.
Manufacturers partnered with the military to develop a new technology that would be flexible, lightweight, and cost-effective. The film could be compensated instead of restoring entire helicopter blades. Eventually, the military increased this film’s use in the 1980s as a protective feature for fighter jets’ noses.
The urethane film was made available to the general public for automotive protection in the 1990s. This technology has been enhanced and perfected over the years, giving us an ultimate product that is popular and reasonably priced among owners and installers alike.
